“There is no similarity between golf and putting; they are two different games-one played in the air, the other on the ground” – Ben Hogan.

Putting is not about good or bad putting strokes it is about successful or unsuccessful outcomes.

Putting Stroke
In reality there are really only 2 different styles when it comes to the putting stroke.

(1) In to In guidelines

  • In to in putting stroke the shoulders should rotate on an inclined plane
  • The shaft moves on a plane defined by the lie angle of the putter for the entire stroke
  • The club head moves on a curved path relative to the target
  • The clubface rotates open to closed during the forward stroke

(2) Straight back and straight through guidelines

  • The shoulders move on a vertical plane
  • The club head moves directly on or above the target line at all times
  • The clubface remains square to the target line at all times
  • The ball position is not critical for square contact
