Putting is not about good or bad putting strokes it is about successful or unsuccessful outcomes.
Putting Stroke
In reality there are really only 2 different styles when it comes to the putting stroke.
(1) In to In guidelines
- In to in putting stroke the shoulders should rotate on an inclined plane
- The shaft moves on a plane defined by the lie angle of the putter for the entire stroke
- The club head moves on a curved path relative to the target
- The clubface rotates open to closed during the forward stroke
(2) Straight back and straight through guidelines
- The shoulders move on a vertical plane
- The club head moves directly on or above the target line at all times
- The clubface remains square to the target line at all times
- The ball position is not critical for square contact
